Nurse Practitioners

Sister Joanne Shaw ANP (f)

Sr Shaw is qualified as an Advanced Practitioner. She is a very experienced nurse and she works alongside the doctors, diagnosing illnesses and prescribing for our patients.

Nurses

Sister Denise Beckett (f)

Sister Beckett is responsible for the management of long term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, COPD and heart disease. Also child immunisations, yellow fever vaccinations, blood pressure, blood tests, cytology testing, lifestyle advice and ECG's.

Sister Cheryl Taylor (f)

Very experienced practice nurse. Responsible for management of long term conditions such as asthma, COPD, heart disease and diabetes. Also cytology testing, blood pressure monitoring, child immunisations, taking blood and lifestyle advice.

Treatment Room Nurses

There is Treatment Room based at the Health Centre downstairs. Patients can be referred here for things such as dressings, wound care and ear syringing.Attendance is by appointment only.

Health Practitioners

Jade Crompton - Health Improvement Practitioner

The practice offers the support of a Health Improvement Practitioner to patients who may require extra input and advice to improve their lifestyle and overall health, Please ask your GP for more information if you feel you may benefit.

Mr Ian Hadlow

Ian will be joining us shortly as a Mental Health Practitioner. He is working at several of the practices in the neighbourhood. He is an experienced mental health nurse and will see our patients following referral from the Doctors or nurses or you can book directly with him - ask our receptionists for information.

Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants support the Doctors and Practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement, ECG's and pulse checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Practice Manager

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager support the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also help to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general inquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription inquiries, dealing with referral letters and appointments, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.

Community Midwives

Based at Royal Bolton Hospital, the midwives hold a weekly ante-natal clinic in the practice.

Health Visitors

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social well being. Every area has a different Health Visitor. Please contact 336745 at Tonge Childrens Centre and they will put you in touch with your Health Visitor.

Julie Booth (f)

The surgery was pleased to be part of the 'Think Positive' Pilot in Bolton which brings Julie, our assigned 'Psychological well being practitioner' (PWP) into the practice twice a week to see patients who are currently experiencing distress. This service has now been moved forward to the Psychological therapy Service. Please chat to your GP if you feel you may benefit.
